For three impactful weeks, the Maman Avia Initiative embarked on a powerful mission to spark curiosity, inspire dreams, and open doors to opportunities in the aviation industry for young Nigerians.
We went to nine senior secondary schools across Lagos, dedicating every Wednesday to engaging, educating, and empowering students who may one day shape the future of aviation. Our goal was clear: to empower students with knowledge, broaden their horizons, and help them see aviation as an attainable career, not a distant dream
Wednesdays were allocated as our visit days and each visit was an opportunity to bring the world of aviation closer to the students. During each outreach session, the Maman Avia Initiative team introduced students to:
- The structure of the aviation industry
- Career paths available in aviation
- Training requirements for different roles
- The importance of discipline, education, and passion in aviation careers

We discussed career opportunities such as:
- Piloting
- Cabin crew
- Air traffic control
- Aircraft engineers (technicians and mechanics)
- Aviation management
- Airport operations
- Customer service
- Ground traffic control
- Ground staff
- Support services (ground handlers)
- Flight Dispatcher
- Safety and security roles
And many more fields that students had never been exposed to prior to our visit.
One of the highlights of this outreach was the level of engagement. Students asked thought-provoking questions; their curiosity was refreshing, their excitement was contagious and their dreams reminded us why initiatives like this matter.
Beyond the engagement, the Maman Avia Initiative documented the names of students who expressed a strong interest in aviation careers.
These students will be among the first to be contacted should avenues open for growth and development.
Whether through:
- Mentorship programs
- Industry-specific workshops
- Future scholarships m
- Training sponsorships
This outreach is only the beginning. As we continue to expand our commitment to aviation education and youth empowerment, the Maman Avia Initiative remains dedicated to bridging the gap between young people and the aviation sector.

We believe the future of Nigeria’s aviation industry is bright and it lies in the hands of the young minds we continue to inspire.
We extend our appreciation to the Lagos State Education District VI for granting us weekly access, and to the school administrators and teachers who welcomed us with open arms.
Most importantly, we celebrate the students themselves: their energy, curiosity, and ambition continue to drive our vision forward.
At Maman Avia Initiative, we are committed to preparing the next generation for the aviation field and the secondary school outreach is a testament to that.
